LTK PURE

Automotive

  • Dimensionally stable in the bearing seat even at operating temperatures from -40°C to +80°C
  • Extremely low flattening under static load and low rolling resistance
  • Damping of vibrations
  • Consistently high quality requirements

Solution

  • Roller design with in-house developed calculation tools based on Herz's pressure
  • Production of the material LTK Pure and mechanical turning on automatic bar turning machines
  • Assembly of the ball bearing with our own press-fit machine

Result for you

  • Economical overall solution over the lifetime of the vehicle (>>10 years), as no replacement of the fittings is necessary
  • Competitive advantages for the customer compared to competitors who offer other solutions
  • Satisfied end users and an example of the high quality of the individual parts

LTK PURE

FPM for food production

  • High corrosion and chemical resistance due to aggressive cleaning agents in the food industry
  • Lubrication-free operation required due to contact with foodstuffs
  • This requires high wear resistance even in dry running (3-shift operation)
  • Service life must be improved despite high torque (1300 Nm)

Solution

  • Gear design based on the calculation tool developed together with the Technical University of Munich
  • Production of the food-compliant material LTK Metal Core FPM (Food, Pharma, Medical) and recasting of the cast iron or stainless steel hubs

The result for you

  • No seizure tendency in contact with stainless steel (even without lubrication), thus longer service life
  • Extremely low weight of Lauramid (density 1.03 g/cm3), resulting in lower inertia
  • Dry running means that no lubricant can contaminate the food, yet the plastic is FDA and EU food compliant
  • Plastic gear wheel does not become brittle or develop stress cracks due to chemical cleaning agents
  • Cheaper than a complete stainless steel gear wheel

LTK METAL CORE

Propeller for biogas plant

  • Propeller manufactured from a single casting
  • Resistant to abrasive and chemical attack
  • Extended service life of the propeller and reduced downtime of the entire biogas plant

Solution

  • Optimization of the blade shape for production using the casting process
  • Development and design of the casting tool
  • Production of the material LTK Metal Core in black
  • Casting with integrated steel core to accommodate the drive hub

The result for you

  • Service life of the propeller blades increased fivefold
  • Satisfied end customers as running times are optimized and therefore greater effectiveness of the biogas plant is achieved
  • Easier and faster installation thanks to integrated steel hub, thus reducing downtime.

LTK INJECT

Injection-molded parts and 3D printing from recycled/recycled material

  • Reuse of chips from in-house production
  • Processability on standard injection molding machines
  • Mechanical values at least in line with market participants

Solution

  • Research and development of the necessary prerequisites for processing and reuse
  • Collecting, drying and cleaning the production chips produced
  • Processing together with an external partner company
  • Market development in the field of injection molding and granulate 3D printing
  • Production of injection molded parts from LTK Inject on Handtmann Kunststofftechnik's own machines, Rodgau

Result for you

  • Almost the same mechanical properties as the original material Lauramid-PA12C
  • 100% recycled chips, therefore low CO2 footprint
  • Simple and uncomplicated use of the granulate for use in injection molding and granulate 3D printing

LTK ADDITIVE

Filament and components in 3D

  • Reuse of chips from in-house production
  • Processability on standard FFF 3D printing machines
  • Mechanical values at least in line with market participants

Solution

  • Research and development of the necessary prerequisites for processing and reuse
  • Collecting, drying and cleaning the production chips produced
  • Processing together with an external partner company
  • Offer to supply filament in the standard market variants (1.75+2.85mm), also carbon short fiber reinforced
  • Material combinations with TPU or soft PLA are possible
  • Production of 3D printed parts from LTK Inject on Handtmann Kunststofftechnik's own machines, Biberach

Result for you

  • Use for small series, prototypes or parts for functional testing, as well as assembly aids in production
  • Simple and uncomplicated use of the filament on the customer's own FFF machines
  • Almost the same mechanical properties as the original Lauramid-PA12C material
  • 100% recycled chips, therefore low CO2 footprint

LTK COMPOSITE

Fiber-reinforced and stable

  • High fiber volume content for the rigidity of the component
  • Impact-resistant, chemically resistant matrix
  • Production close to the final contour to reduce costs

Solution

  • Development and design of the necessary T-RTM tool
  • LTK composite component produced using the T-RTM process
  • Fiber volume content up to 65
  • Perfect repeat accuracy of the components thanks to aluminum series tool

Result for you

  • Fiber volume content of up to 65%, currently one of the materials with the highest fiber volume in the composite market
  • Product-specific shapes can be created using the T-RTM process, even with steel inserts
  • T-RTM mold can be used for high quantities (50,000 units and more)
  • 100% recyclability of the matrix, reuse as injection molding granulate possible
